This weekend went by in a heart beat. Maybe because I laid in bed most of the time. Saturday I got up early and met my Mother-in-Law to register for baby stuff. For all that think I did this really soon considering I'm 14 weeks along (3 months & 2 weeks) it was for Christmas and early shower purposes. Because Cale and I are leaving to go to NJ in December (Lord willing) we are having a shower early.

There was so much baby stuff. I was overwhelmed. So many choices and I kept saying, "which one should I get?" We went to Target and Baby's R Us. Sara, April, and Jamie, any thing I absolutely must have that you guys loved? I was told I need the whip warmer so that is on my Target registry. One thing I put on that I thought was cool was a rubber ducky that tells you if the water is too hot. I hope that works. I wish I knew what we were having because there was so many cut clothes. I just stuck to yellow and greens. We hopefully will find out before the shower and X-Mas and I'll add girl/boy things. Man, baby stuff is expensive! Maybe I need to get into the baby industry.

So after we did all that I was exhausted. I went home and slept from 3:30pm to 7pm. I did have a good time though and it made me want the baby to come sooner. I'm trying to enjoy my alone time with Cale right now because I know by May we will be busy with the baby. When we go out to dinner and hear kids screaming I turn to Cale and say, "are you ready for that?"

I really can't wait to get a camera so I can post pictures. I'll probably go picture happy so I can catch you all up to now. I love looking at Jenn, April, Jamie, & Sara's sites for the pictures. I've become addicted to this blog thing now. I check it every day.

Okay well I better get back to work. I'm actually going home in a little while due to bad bad heartburn. It has upset my stomach too. Ahh the joy of pregnancy.

Here is some motherly advice..take it or leave it I won't be offened.
I got alot of advice and as you start to get bigger and really show you'll find out that everyone wants to put their two cents in.

The warmer thing..we never had one and we did fine. I think intially the baby cries when you change it's diaper because you are exposing it bare behind..it's got to be cold. Typically the wipes in general are room temperature. When they are little you change diapers like crazy, I typcially changed Ty on the floor in the living room..it was too much of a hike to take him to his room...anyways the whole warmer thing is kinda the same...you only use it in that location. Maybe Jeff and I were hard core with Ty, but we made him suck it up:) The whole duck temperature thing was cool but it only lasted briefly. Sorry not to be a downer..But I say, I'll take anything someone gives me as a gift.
As for things that I used alot..we traveled alot and a pack and play was very handy. When Ty was still tiny, we had it set-up in our room as bed/bassinet. We had a family "hand down" bassinet and ty out grew it fast. I don't recomend buying one of those. They'll out grow it FAST and then it just takes up alot of room.
Ty really liked his swing. One that has a timer and plays music was really handy.
Burp clothes can be really expensive when think all that you do is clean up spoiled milk. My little tike was a fountain of spit up every time he ate. We used cloth diaper as burp clothes...they absored better and were cheaper.
I don't know if you plan to breast feed. But if you do investing in a nice breast pump is worth it. My sister had a $300 dollar one she let me borrow..we had bought one at Wal-mart and the two didn't even compare.
It's good to keep in mind registering for toys that are alot older like 9-12 months. All they do when they are little is stare.
My true life safer was an exersaucer. Ty started using his at about 3 months and loved it. He hated to be laying on the ground and always wanted to be standing up checking out the world. I could sit him in it and he was happy..when we got older he could play with his toys and as I ran around the toys I knew he wouldn't go anywhere.
Think about classical music or sounds CD to play in the night..some babies just like the noise and it's calming to them.
Something you can never go wrong with is diapers and wipes..you'll use those for atleast the first year and half.
Things to not register for..blankets. We got hundreds of baby blankets (litterally I think we got 10) and baby towels.
The best thing is to save your reciepts.

Anyways, that's all I got for now...take it or leave it. Of course every baby is different all of the above could not apply to you.

What is a whip warmer?
Aw, my eyes are all teary. This is so exciting! I kind of wish I were going up north for a while. It is way too warm here for this time of year. I know you agree.
I am glad you feel better. I hate nausea...I think that is the worst and dont look forward to it if I have it bad.
When do you have a shower? I like the green color regardless of if they baby is a boy or a girl. Thats good seeing as how even though T and I shouldnt have kids for a while I already know that I dont want to know what the baby is til it comes out! I like surprises...
Anyway, I just wanted to see how you are doing. I am glad that you are posting.

Ok - here goes - i am a fountain of advice when it comes to baby stuff but let me first tell you that you should register for diapers! I know that sounds weird but it is true because when we had Anna we didn't have to buy diapers for 4 months and that really helps since they are like 25.00 a box! And yes like April said, SAVE THOSE RECEIPTS... i am with april on the wipes warmer - you WON't use it - we had a caddy thing that hooked onto the side of the changing table and that thing rocked. Register for a diaper genie because you would be surprised how many a little one can go thru in a day - a safety kit with those little finger nail clippers is a must - a good thermometer, a comb or brush of some kind... a stroller and not just any stroller - A GRACO - Personally i love the metrolite because it is in fact LITE! and get one where you can attach the carseat right into it - trust me! and get two bases for your car seat one for each car - it is worth it to not have the hassle and the carseat literally clicks right in place - VERY EASY. Get a diaper bag you love because honey, that thing will be your lifeline - a travel wipes container, oh and get a MEDELA breast pump but wait til after the baby is born to see if breastfeeding even works for you - it didn't for me and we bought a $350 pump! I am going to try again with this one but i am going to rent one from the hospital to see how things go - another thing, don't waste your money on fancy bottles - we bought the gerber ones and they are $1 a piece - formula - if you go that route - by the Target or Wal-mart brand - cheaper and just as good - they have standards for those types of things so you know your baby will be fine...

ok sorry i am getting a little out of control - oh and i like Pampers diapers best - i have bought the others even the knock offs but pampers just stays on and absorbs best in my opinion...

Toys are great but honestly until around 6 months that baby is going to lay around and take everything in... oh and the ocean wonders aquarium that goes on the crib is a MUST in my book - and a good monitor - we had the matching Fischer Price Ocean monitor and it shows scenes on the ceiling and plays music - all that stuff helps if you have a fussy sleeper!

ok well take care and i know what it is like to be overwhelmed - i bawled at Babies R Us when we registered because i had no idea what i was doing and you know what, neither did any other first time mom there! So you know you are not alone!

Hey, I'm way behind on this thing. I hope your Christmas and such went great. That's the wonderful thing about registering, you can get what YOU want. That's a big thing because everybody "needs" different stuff. The stinky thing is before you have the kid, you don't know what YOU will use. I got stuff because people swore they couldn't get by without it (a nursing stool and a pack and play, for example) - and I never used it! Then again there's stuff my aunt insisted I needed that I mocked (a Boppy, for example) - and it turned out to be invaluable (at least for the first month). I got an "angel monitor" that senses the baby's breathing while it sleeps. Since Philip had a brother die of SIDS, that was the only way I got any sleep without staying awake to watch her breathe. I've got friends who consider that a waste of money, though. Everybody is different! I did use the ducky temp. thing and it made me feel better about the bath time. Didn't have a wipe warmer, but some people swear by them. There's so much stuff to get! As long as you get the basics: car seat, clothes, diapers....you can fill in the rest as you realize you need it. I would say to have a breastpump on hand for early nursing days, if you do nurse. I couldn't have survived about the third or fourth day without the pump - all I ever used was a $60 one from Target and Emily is STILL nursing. If you'll be going back to work, definately get a better one, though. I'm sure you're surrounded by generous people and you'll be great!
